What to do when a conversation becomes more than you expected?
Protective Interruption is a practical one-hour workshop designed for educators, teachers, administration staff, and others who may receive sensitive disclosures as part of their work, particularly in environments that are not appropriate for these conversations.
Participants will learn how to recognise when a conversation needs to be safety redirected, interrupt a disclosure respectfully and connect the person with appropriate support.
Drawing on trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention and neurobiology, the workshop introduced a simple Recognise, Interrupt and Connect (RIC) framework.
In this workshop, you will:
• Understand the purpose and benefits of protective interruption.
• Apply the RIC model: Recognise, Interrupt and Connect.
• Build the confidence to manage sensitive disclosures and maintain boundaries.
A trauma informed model for classroom environments and office spaces.
