Devonport,
Lifeline Tasmania, in partnership with Hospitality Tasmania, invites you to Talks On Tap at Island State Brewing. Join us for an evening of pizza, conversation and insight as we unpack one of the most talked about, and often misunderstood, ideas in mental health and wellbeing: resilience.
What does resilience really mean? Is it always about “bouncing back”, or can that expectation sometimes leave us feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or disconnected from ourselves?
Together, we’ll explore questions like:
• Can we still call it resilience if it comes at the cost of our health, relationships or joy?
• Are some people naturally more resilient than others?
• Is resilience really about having a “water off a duck’s back” attitude?
• At what point does being labelled “resilient” stop feeling like a compliment and start feeling like pressure?
Featuring guest speaker Peter Baldwin, one of Lifeline Tasmania’s experienced and highly regarded trainers, this relaxed and engaging session will challenge common myths around resilience and offer a more realistic, human perspective on coping with life’s challenges.
Second guest speaker is Shannan Maciejewski.
Shannan Maciejewski is a small business owner, Community Engagement Coordinator and proud dad of four. Drawing on his own lived experience of navigating the pressures and challenges of running a small business while balancing family and work, Shannan brings an honest and relatable perspective to wellbeing and resilience.
In his talks Shannan will share insights into recognising the signs of stress and burnout, navigating challenging times, and the lessons he has learned along the way about looking after yourself for the long haul. His story is a reminder that resilience isn't about having all the answers, it's about recognising when the pressure is building and knowing what you need to stay well.
